Duke was found roaming the north miami streets on March 5th, without a collar or tag. He was covered in fleas and very underweight. He was so exhausted he literally just climbed into our truck. He was treated for the fleas, bathed and fed and gained 10 pounds in the first five days. On the fifth day after he gain his strength he was taken to the vet to check for a chip which he had. His owners came to pick him up. I tried to get them to surrender him but they refused. 20 days later he was spotted again roaming the streets and the owner called me to tell me she was ready to surrender him. He had lost 11 pounds in those 20 days and was completely emaciated. His vet visit has found him to have a series of serious issues. Hookworms, round worms, an ear infection, ehrlickia and heartworms. He is on his second day of heartworm treatment and has gained a few pounds already. He is 4 years old, boxer/Mastiff mix… sweetheart. Let’s my cats eat from his bowl. Loves his plastic hamburger toy
